Baseball
Every Friday at 1:00, 190 players and 45 coaches descend on the Ampi theatre to play the grand old pastime of baseball. The Beit Shemesh Little League provides a caring, nurturing sports environment for these children. We make having a great time and achieving personal best our top priorities. Learning how to be part of a team, respecting your team mates and opponents, and developing sports skills are some of the things these players learn.

Israel Association of Baseball (IAB)
In Beit Shemesh there are a few baseball teams that are run by the Israel Association of Baseball (IAB). The IAB is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting and developing baseball in Israel. There are IAB teams in many cities in Israel. The IAB places emphasis on teaching good sportsmanship, on developing baseball skills and on having fun.
The teams in the IAB are split into the following age groupings: Minors: 8-10, Juveniles: 10-12, Cadets: 13-15, Juniors 16-18 and Seniors: 18 and over
Currently in Beit Shemesh there is one Minor team, one Juvenile team and one Cadet team. These teams practice at the soccer field of Kibbutz Tzora. The younger Minor team has been practicing on Wednesdays from 4:00 - 5:00/5:30, and the older two teams practice on Friday afternoons from 1:30 - 3:30. From September through February the teams run practices once a week.
Then in March the game season starts, and the teams then have games against other IAB teams in different cities that are of the same age group.

Women's Sports
Basketball
With the kids tucked into bed, each week a group of between ten and twenty Beit Shemesh women sneak off for a couple of hours of good, clean fun on the basketball court. Starting off with warm ups and some basic drills, the night transitions into fast-paced but friendly games of five-on-five (or three on three, etc; whatever the case may be). Many of the women despite their obvious passion for the sport have little or no background in playing basketball ensuring that laughter is heard almost as often as that all familiar swoosh of the net. In what's turned out to be an excellent way to make new friends and get some exercise, the games have become a weekly highlight for all involved. Softball
Women's softball is a growing sport in Israel and especially in Beit Shemesh. The Beit Shemesh Fireballs have been proudly taking to the softball field ever since the Israel Softball Association introduced a women's league in 2001. Also played in a relaxed and fun environment, games can become competitive as the women take on teams from across the country. Taking first place in the 2005 season, Beit Shemesh is now recruiting for the spring games as they look to hold on to their title. For more information email Jeff Perry or call (02) 991-9134

The club meets one evening a week in the Sheinfeld community for a formal training session. Other days of the week club members run on their own with other club members. While, it's fun to run in various races throughout Israel, the majority of the club runners enjoy the training aspect most meeting with other fellow runners 2 to 3 times a week.
